The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Music Director Toshiyuki Shimada, perform:• Ludwig van Beethoven’s Prometheus Overture, derived from his only offering in the arena of ballet music.• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Mass in C Major (Coronation). with the Symphony and Chorus joining forces. The stately setting of the Mass text led it to be performed at coronations for many years, thus earning its subtitle.• A work of epic proportions – Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 (Titan) – which defied convention by borrowing sounds from nature, quoting “Frère Jacques” as a funeral march, and incorporating klezmer themes, all leading to a triumphant finale.*Pre-Concert Chat: 6:30-7:00pm
