On Sunday, January 24 at 2 PM, join us for the first event of our virtual series: Stories from the Thames River Heritage Park.

“Suffragettes, Schoolteachers, & Socialites. Women of the Thames.”  will introduce you to women who have made a significant impact on the educational, economic, cultural and social fabric of the Thames River region. From those who ensured the preservation of Native American language and culture to innovative educators and major Gilded Age philanthropists, women have played a significant role in the history of the Thames River communities.

Gail MacDonald, University of Connecticut professor of journalism and author of two local history books, will be your guide for this one-hour virtual talk hosted live on Zoom from the Shaw Mansion. At the conclusion of her presentation she will be taking audience questions.
