Join Flock Theatre, Resident Theater Company of New London’s Mitchell College in their first Macbeth, staged in their new home, the Red Barn. Come experience this essential annual New London Halloween tradition! The performance will combine elements of giant shadow puppetry, life-size puppets, darkness, and live acting to tell the tale. In addition to the nighttime performances, the production will be performed for various local schools at Saint Bernard High School on Halloween.
Recent research suggests Macbeth is not manipulated by the supernatural, but that he conspires with the three witches using code words and phrases recognized by the occult. Flock will capitalize on the depth of Shakespeare’s language and methods of communication by exploring a sense-based performance of the text: the witches and Hecate will speak only in American Sign Language. Shadow puppetry and the manipulation of darkness will be used, and food will be served to direct taste and smell during special dinner performances.
