Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park
CT Open House Day at Fort Griswold includes visiting the Monument House Museum and gift shop, climbing 166 steps to the top of the monument, a visit at noon with “Abby Slocomb,” designer of the CT flag, and guided tours of the Fort at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3pm. Enjoy free popcorn made on site! Get your raffle tickets for the beautiful ‘Burgoyne Surrounded’ quilt on display.
You can also take a hike at Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park while following a series of clues in the TRHP Fort Griswold Quest to learn about the history and the ecology of the area and the river while solving a word puzzle. Participants who finish any of the quests and send in a selfie at the final location to firstname.lastname@example.org will be entered into a random weekly prize drawing.
In celebration of TRHP’s Opening Day & Connecticut Open House Day, TRHP is offering $5 harbor cruises for all.
Hop aboard a Thames River Heritage Park boat, enjoy a harbor cruise, and visit TRHP’s other historic partner sites.
Children ages 0-3 ride free of charge.
Harbor cruises begin at 11:40 AM from City Pier in New London on a continuous loop to landings at Fort Trumbull State Park on the hour, City Pier at 20 minutes after the hour, and Thames Landing in Groton City at 40 minutes after the hour.
